The Last Musketeer

Author(s): Stuart Gibbs

Middle Fiction 8-12-year-olds

When 14-year-old Greg Rich’s parents disappear without a trace on a family vacation to France, he must travel back to 17th Century Paris to rescue them. Greg discovers that an evil being named Dominic is responsible for his parents’ kidnapping, and that the Rich family destiny is tied to The Three Musketeers of legend. Dominic assures Greg that the only way he can save his parents is by bringing Aramis, Athos, and Porthos - the Three Musketeers - together when they’re boys. If Greg fails, his parents will be killed. Greg adopts the identity of a very young d’Artagnan and sets forth on a wild, alternately fun-filled and desperate adventure to unite the Three Musketeers before their time. His actions set the stage for the events of Dumas’s novel, informing how the characters and plot will turn out, either by accident or design. Greg not only saves his family, but learns a terrible secret about their true heritage.
