It's summer and all Jinny can think about is riding Shantih over the moors and beaches of Finmory. But her plans are put on hold when city kids, Marlene and Bill come to stay. Marlene longs to ride on Shantih's back, where her crooked leg won't matter to anyone, but Jinny knows Shantih isn't the hourse for a beginner.
